A Winning New Sportfish Combo

DLBA is proud to start supporting Duffie Boatworks, and in doing so strengthen our presence in the sportfish market. This Ocean City, MD, up-and-coming boat builder focuses on creating quality-built, Carolina-style fishing boats, with an expanding portfolio of vessels. Current boats include a 26’ Center Console which captures the feel of larger sport fishing boats in a modern package, and a 63′ Sportfish with a cockpit laid out for tournament fishing and plenty of room to move. The DLBA team is also in the design stages of a new product, which Jon and his team at Duffie Boatworks are working to bring into the offshore fishing arena.
DLBA’s concept is based on a semi-planing monohull of aluminum construction. Volvo IPS propulsion has been chosen to meet EPA Tier 4 requirements, minimize the frequency of occurrence of loss of thrust when pushing up to stanchions, and ease of replacement to maximize vessel availability. The vessel is fitted with a gyrostabilizer to limit roll motions, as the monohull is inherently less stiff that a catamaran, in order to reduce vessel motions and maximize crew effectiveness. The vessels structure is designed to meet ABS HSC Rules for heavy weather offshore operation.
