Results Driven Construction Management

JUNE 10, 2019

Stationed in the United States, DLBA Naval Architects & Marine Engineers (formerly Donald L. Blount & Associates, Inc.) is proud to have a long history of cooperation with yacht builders and applying our specialized skills to guide complex new construction projects. With a body of work that spans more than 31 years and a team of over 20 marine engineers, designers, thinkers, and doers who thrive on solving technical challenges, DLBA is a powerful force to be reckoned with, driving innovation in the marine industry.

Over the years we have been involved with over 120 yachts across different shipyards located all around the world. All builds present their own challenges that our naval architects, marine engineers and project managers enjoy meeting while working towards the ultimate goal; to create or modify a vessel that suits the owner’s personal goals, and to execute the project according to the plan.

Former builds have included 1998’s M/Y Fortuna in Spain’s Bazan Shipyard, the Palmer Johnson 150’ and 135’ Sport Yachts circa 2005, the build of Burger Boat Company’s hull 509 which became Tò-Kalòn in 2009, the 2008 Horizon 110’ RPH project in 2008, the 45m Riostar, Baglietto’s striking MV19 built in La Spezia in 2017 and Trinity Yacht’s T060 M/Y Falcon circa 2011., and many more.

A stand out project for the DLBA team was Alamshar, which was delivered in 2014. The build was undertaken at Devonport Royal Shipyard in the United Kingdom.  The naval architecture and marine engineering technology advances implemented by the DLBA team and our partners on the project resulted in a yacht with exceptional performance, maneuvering, and seakeeping abilities. The vessel’s propulsion plant is the first of its kind for any yacht worldwide.
