FAST 2021 Conference

The International Conference on Fast Sea Transportation (FAST) is approaching quickly! It will be held on October 26th and 27th in Providence, Rhode Island. Starting in Norway back in 1991, the FAST conference has been held every other year around the world in a location that benefits from fast sea transportation. This year we look forward to having the event held in the United States again!
FAST is the premier global conference for high performance ships and craft and is of great interest to all who are engaged in researching, designing, building, and operating them. The objective of the FAST conference is to bring together experts from around the world to present/exchange knowledge and network around the most comprehensive and latest information available on high-performance vessels and their technology. Registration is now open, and we encourage all people who like to go fast on the water to sign up and attend!
DLBA’s Director, Jeff Bowles, has been leading up the papers committee to create the technical content of the conference. Participation has been hampered this year by the COVID-19 challenges that we are still facing, but the group has assembled 23 great papers from noteworthy authors to fill out this year’s technical program. In addition to the technical papers, there will be a special presentation honoring Dr. Daniel Savitsky who died last year just shy of 100 years of age. We are glad to be a part of celebrating the significant contributions to the high-speed maritime community he made over his life.
Besides the presentation about his work, we look forward to conversing about who he was as a human being with his colleagues, so we all understand just how special Dr. Savitsky was. The list of authors and paper titles can be located at the conference website. We hope you can make the trip to participate in this special event!
