Accommodation refit for ferry
“Haig Point II”

JUNE 23, 2021

Ferry service is one of the maritime industries last year to take a major hit from COVID-19 shutdowns. But as some discovered, sometimes a shutdown is an opportunity to refurbish and improve – do the things we’ve been wanting to do for a while, but haven’t had time to do. DLBA Naval Architects has been right there as Haig Point Transportation in South Carolina has decided to rethink Haig Point II and update its look. As travelers once again go to the historic Daufuski Island near Hilton Head, they can look forward to being taken in style.

DLBA is excited to have the opportunity to support Haig Point Transportation on the modernization of the HAIG POINT II – it’s first refit since it was built in the 1980s. The vessel is a Subchapter T boat that is getting a face-lift including remodel of the interior and exterior passenger decks for a clean, modern, and refined look. DLBA provided interior design support and arranged the seating as well as finishing options and colors to give an updated feel that will replace existing wood paneling and dated-furnishings. The refit is expected to be completed soon!
