DLBA is currently working on the refit of Chispa; a private yacht built in the style of a downeast, gentlemen’s boat with a touch of oyster boat styling influence. DLBA is pleased to be providing design and naval architecture support for this refit which will see her emerge with updated an propulsion system and a new helm and deck arrangement. The modification is currently underway and is expected to take approximately four months.
Chispa’s existing diesel/waterjet power plant is being replaced with twin Mercury outboards, and with the increased power output, modifications to the running surface and hull structure in the aft area are required. The improvements will see Chispa achieve 40 knots over a previous top speed of 30 knots.
The owners are also taking the opportunity to update the exterior styling; introducing an integrated canopy and undertaking a repaint. The new changes to the yacht’s arrangements include an added head, bigger forward berth and a more useable and spacious cockpit layout, with DLBA collaborating with the owner to design a more practical and comfortable helm.
