The DLBA team has been hard at work researching the feasibility of a monohull crew transfer vessel (CTV) for the U.S. Offshore wind farm industry. Rather than maintain the status quo with a European catamaran design, DLBA saw the opportunity to design a vessel tailored to the environmental and economic conditions present in the northeastern U.S. The geographic location of U.S. wind farms is much farther from shore, which will require increased vessel endurance and berthing requirements to be economical for vessel operators. DLBA’s research efforts have been focused on three key areas, including meeting or exceeding the requirements for current U.S. CTV solicitations, developing a preliminary design technical data package to allow shipyards to quickly cost the vessel, and investigating hybrid and electric propulsion options.
