DLBA presents “Original Speed”

July 22, 2021

By Donald L. Blount

Speed thrills – it has been said time and time again.  One aspect of marine technology that fascinated our founder, Donald L. Blount, was the history of the marine industry’s transition from displacement speeds to higher speeds.  Don researched this topic continually and presented several papers on the topic.

This paper is one of his earlier publications, as we look back at some of the drivers and enablers for the transition to speeds above displacement speeds.  I find it fascinating that yachts and prohibition era rum runners had such a large role in this evolution. Take a look yourself!

Have a look at the full paper here on the website of Professional Boat Builder.
