Vicem Yachts Meet DLBA

MARCH 30, 2021

DLBA Naval Architects is always ready to look beyond the horizon, and Turkey is well beyond what we can see from the coast of Virginia. There, on the Turkish coast, is Vicem Yachts, a new DLBA partner. In the 1980’s, their founder, Sabahattin Hafizoglu, set up shop in Vicem, Turkey, a town on the Black Sea. His design inspiration was the Turkish Gulet, a masted, wooden boat which had become a favorite for tourism charters around Turkey in the 1970’s. From that time on, his boats have become known for the harmony and quality of their design, balancing luxury, comfort, and performance.

This 37’ (11m) collaboration with DLBA Naval Architects is no exception. The design provides for fishing or the comforts of cruising. The choice of outboard power provides quiet operation and higher speeds than competition with traditional propulsion. A variety of outboard engines will be available with this boat so the owner can focus on what he/she thinks is most important: speed, quiet, etc. Beyond engines, this boat has an all new hull form designed to optimize outboard motor performance and handling while providing a stable platform for fishing and enjoying the water. There will even be a version offered with a center console.

DLBA Naval Architects worked with the Vicem team to develop the initial concept, preliminary design, and naval architecture. We are very pleased with what the renderings and our calculations are telling us about the look and performance of this craft. We expect that other models of varying sizes and unique differences will follow. Stay tuned!
