Haig Point Transportation, located on picturesque Daufuskie Island, SC, has asked DLBA to assist with a repower of the 55’ (17m) HAIG POINT IV vessel in their ferry fleet. DLBA has previously provided similar services for the HAIG POINT II vessel.

DLBA is excited to announce a collaboration with Blue Gulf Cat (UAE) on the hydrodynamic design of a 42’ (13m) high-speed catamaran. With a design top speed exceeding 65kts, speed is king on this platform leading to the use of multiple transverse steps on each demi hull to reduce resistance at the highest operating speeds.
The International Workboat Show is set for Wednesday, December 1st – Friday, December 3rd in New Orleans with an estimated 1,000 exhibitors ready to get back to business in person. DLBA is excited to be there with other attendees and exhibitors in this amazing southern state.
The International Conference on Fast Sea Transportation (FAST) is back in 2021! FAST is the premier global conference for high performance ships and craft and is of great interest to all who are engaged in researching, designing, building, and operating them.
The DLBA team has been hard at work researching the feasibility of a monohull crew transfer vessel (CTV) for the U.S. Offshore wind farm industry. Rather than maintain the status quo with a European catamaran design, DLBA saw the opportunity to design a vessel tailored to the environmental and economic conditions present in the northeastern U.S.
Nothing beats in-person conversations. The DLBA team has greatly enjoyed discussing new projects and enjoying some good, old-fashioned boat talk this year at the events and conferences that are coming back after last year’s COVID-19 shutdown.

Ritchie Howell continues to produce world class custom sportfishing yachts from his shop in Wanchese, NC. DLBA is excited to be part of his team providing naval architecture and design services including hull form development, machinery layouts, powering and performance development, and deck design.
